Compensation for Delayed Residents

Delays of up to a year have caused residents of Chambray house and the plot behind financial difficulties ranging from increased costs due to short term lets and storage costs to repeat solicitors fee’s. It appeared that Barratt might have had prior knowledge of delays and could have been enjoying a business benefit from residents deposits whilst not awarding the same benefit to those affected.

Initially compensation was refused to residents however with appropriate pressure from the RA and intimation of collective action and legal proceedings it appears that offers of compensation in the single figure thousands for residents are now being offered.

There are up to 104 affected residents meaning that compensation could be substantial. It is hoped now that Barratt is seeing right done by treating it’s customers fairly.
